The Wellfleet Adult Community Center is excited to host the Association for the Preservation of Cape Cod (APCC) Ecolandscape Consultation Program bringing expert guidance directly to our grounds to transform them into a vibrant “Living Classroom” of native plants and pollinator gardens. Led by Erin Camire, APCC’s Ecolandscape Program Coordinator, the program will help us create an ecologically friendly landscape that supports local wildlife while serving as a hands-on educational space for our community.
Through this partnership and program, we will receive a site-specific assessment, practical recommendations, and a detailed 25-page written report packed with resources to guide our native planting and habitat restoration efforts. We will meet as a group to walk the site, make observations and ask questions. Upon completion of the site assessment, we will meet again to review the comprehensive report and learn the next steps in creating a thriving native habitat at the WACC. We hope the Wellfleet Adult Community Center will serve as a model for properties town-wide, both public and private, hence inspiring broader ecological improvements across Wellfleet.
We invite you to this special program so you can learn what’s happening at the WACC and also learn the steps you can take to transition your property to a pollinator-friendly native habitat. Together with APCC, we’re taking a meaningful step toward a more Cape-friendly future—right here at the Wellfleet Adult Community Center. This program is made possible by the Friends of the Wellfleet Council on Aging.
Our program guide, Erin Camire, holds a degree in forestry and sustainable landscaping horticulture from the University of Vermont. She specializes in bringing ecological principles into everyday backyards through plant identification, invasive species management, meadow creation, lawn reduction, rain gardens, and more.
