TRANSPORTATION
The Wellfleet Council on Aging (COA) is dedicated to providing safe, dependable transportation for residents aged 60 and older to general medical appointments within Barnstable County. To protect the well-being of both passengers and staff, all riders must be able to walk independently, clearly disclose any use of mobility aids, and confirm they can enter and exit both their home and the COA vehicle without assistance. Individuals who are unable to ambulate or require physical support for transfers must be accompanied by a personal aide. For safety and liability reasons, COA staff are strictly prohibited from lifting, transferring, or physically stabilizing clients—including the use of gait belts—and may not perform household tasks or personal errands. This service is available Monday through Friday and is primarily intended for general medical appointments.
