Searching for Diamondback Terrapins

Look for Diamondback Terrapins, a threatened species of salt marsh turtle. During June andJuly, our Wellfleet Bay naturalists and volunteers searched along the sanctuary trails in search for nesting turtles. In this naturalist guided walk we hope to find and release the hatchlings. Wear comfortable walking shoes, bring water and be prepared to walk up to 2 miles in soft sand and uneven terrain. This walk is limited to 12 participants, registration with the Wellfleet Adult Community Center is required in advance. Please bring water and be well hydrated in preparation for this walk. Cost is $5.00. Sponsored by the Friends of the Wellfleet Council on Aging. Please call 774-801-8119 to register.
