ARTIST’S STATEMENT:    I generally paint every day from a place of solitude and quiet allowing myself to connect deeply and emotionally with my chosen subject. I am motivated by compassion to create something larger than pretty with a deeper more profound connection to humanity. Whether I’m painting the Orwellian pigs, street pigeons, portraiture or scenic moments from personal travel, my goal is to have the viewer feel the deep emotional connection that I paint from but which resonates deeply from their own personal connection and experience.
ARTISTS BIO:   Donna Pomponio grew up west of Boston in the town of Milford with mostly first and second-generation families from Italy. After motherhood, her own businesses, extensive travel, and Principal of a Boston High School Diploma Program for youth-at-risk, she furthered her education as an adult, graduating from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2007. She holds a BFA in Painting & Art History with departmental honors and distinction.  A practicing oil painter for close to three decades her work has been shown in Boston and Outer Cape galleries and museums. Most recently her work was juried into a digital show at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, as well as juried shows at the Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum (PMPM), Provincetown Art Association Museum (PAAM), and guest artist in a group show at the Emily Harvey Foundation, Venice, Italy. This past winter, by invitation, Pomponio was the featured artist chosen for publication on front and back covers and a multi-page portfolio in Hanging Loose Magazine (Issue 116) out of Brooklyn, NY. She is currently a year-round Provincetown resident with occasional Boston stays.
